Project Hope for the Homeless to host Virtual Jog with a Frog 5K and 1 Mile Walk

Virtual event to raise awareness and support for Project Hope for the Homeless

PAINESVILLE TOWNSHIP – With COVID-19 putting restrictions on some in-person events including foot races, we have decided to try something new this year for our annual road racing event to help raise awareness about homelessness and support Project Hope for the Homeless.

Project Hope for the Homeless will conduct the third annual Jog with a Frog 5K and 1 Mile Walk presented by Aqua Doc Lake and Pond Management as a virtual event.

Participation can be completed anytime in between Sat. Aug. 8, 2020 and Sunday Aug. 23, 2020, and the cost is only $20 for either distance.

Participants will receive a T-shirt and finisher medalthat will be mailed out after the event is over.

Proceeds from this event will be used to directly help serve the homeless. In 2019, Project Hope for the Homeless provided nearly 14,000 individual nights of shelter and served an all-time high 476 guests.

To participate, simply sign up at https://runsignup.com/Race/OH/Painesville/JogwithaFrog5K and then during the event’s active dates go for a 3.1 mile run or walk or a 1 mile walk.

Record your time using a GPS-enabled watch or use a mobile app such as Strava or Map My Run to record your time and distance. Then report your results for the distance you chose by submitting your time on the event’s website https://runsignup.com/Race/OH/Painesville/JogwithaFrog5K and click on the “Results” tab. Then you will be included in the results.

Please note, participants do not have to record and submit a time to be part of the event to support Project Hope for the Homeless. All you have to do is just sign up for the event, but keep in mind you won’t be listed in the results.

Anyone may make an extra donation for this event to support Project Hope for the Homeless by visiting the race donation page at: https://runsignup.com/Race/Donate/OH/Painesville/JogwithaFrog5K.

“This is personally one of my favorite events every year,” said Michael K. Lawrence II, race director and Project Hope for the Homeless development director. “While it is a little disappointing, we are unable to have this event in-person, we are excited to be able to offer a virtual alternative.

“We’ll hopefully have a few virtual surprises along the way as well,” Lawrence added. “This year, more than ever, it’s an important event to have as during this time financial support is really important. We encourage folks to sign up and have some virtual fun while helping a real need.”

Being part of the community and having outreach within it is important to Aqua Doc Lake and Pond Management, the Jog with a Frog 5K and 1 Mile Walk event’s presenting sponsor.

“When we started this, it was our vision to help Project Hope for the Homeless grow,” said John Wilson, owner and president of Aqua Doc Lake and Pond Management. “We felt this was a good cause years ago and we want to stick with a good thing.”

Project Hope for the Homeless also seeks additional sponsors for the event. Sponsorship perks and other information are available through August 5 at https://bit.ly/3d7F3gc.

Project Hope for the Homeless, celebrating its 27th anniversary in 2020, is a 50-bed facility where guests receive emergency shelter, a hot dinner, light breakfast, packed lunches and weekly one-on-one meetings with a trained professional staff member who helps guests set goals and gives them referrals for more comprehensive treatment, housing and care.
